Yesterday we ploughed up a 1954 sward of the legendary Cockle Park mixture. More on this tomorrow.
The field was very difficult to plough, with just 8″ of top soil above a pure clay sub-soil.
The following crop will be winter wheat after which a grass sward will be established again.
I think its fair to say it will be another 60 years before its ploughed again!
